- Sophie Pasternak was born on December 25, 1922, in Bethlehem, PA
- She was a 1940 graduate of Hellertown High School.
- In 1944, she graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
- During World War II, Sophie was a Women’s Army Corps nurse in, and she was recognized for her work during that period.
- Sophie received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degree from Columbia University, NY.
- She was the Assistant Director of the Orthopedic Department of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City, NY, for 32 years, retiring in 1982.
- Sophie was on the Board of Directors of the Hellertown Historical Society.
